What is Wellness?
The terms "health" and "wellness" are often used interchangeably. The World Health Organization (WHO) has defined health as, “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."

Although wellness can be defined similarly, some suggest that wellness is more active and process-oriented whereas health is more of a state of being.
Understanding the Concept of Wellness
When you hear the term "wellness," what comes to mind? At a high level, wellness refers to healthy habits we partake in on a regular basis. From the food we choose to nourish our bodies with to the physical exercise we put our bodies through and even mental health practices like meditation, wellness is the act of keeping our mind and body well.
Dimensions of wellness: Change your habits, change your life
People often think about wellness in terms of physical health — nutrition, exercise, weight management, etc., but it is so much more. Wellness is a holistic integration of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, fueling the body, engaging the mind, and nurturing the spirit.

Although it always includes striving for health, it’s more about living life fully, and is “a lifestyle and a personalized approach to living life in a way that
allows you to become the best kind of person that your potentials, circumstances, and fate will allow”.
Health Is Wealth: What It Means and Why It’s True
If you had to name a valuable asset, what’s the first thing that would come to mind?
For most people, it would be something tangible – like gold bars, Apple stock, paintings by European masters, or real estate in Central Park West.

But what about education, experience, loyalty, or happiness?

While these types of intangible assets won’t appear on a company balance sheet, there’s no denying their value. You can’t sell them. But when it comes to landing well-paid jobs, receiving promotions, and being willing and able to work hard, they’re priceless.
8 Reasons Why Health is Your Greatest Wealth
The greatest “wealth is health.” I believe that but can’t take credit for that quote. It is attributed to Virgil, an ancient Roman poet. So, we’re not talking about a new discovery here; more like a tried-and-true fact.

Recognizing the direct correlation between health and wealth should not be overlooked, and I’m not suggesting money isn’t important, as we all need money to live, but I’m afraid that we take our health for granted at times which can impact our wealth and our ability to live a rich life.
The Deep Connection Between Your Health And Wealth
“When health is absent ... wealth becomes useless,” the ancient Greek physician Herophilus once famously said. That might have been the case 2,300 or so years ago, but it’s a doctrine I live by today, specifically noting the benefits of regular checks for both your health and your wealth.

Every day, as an organization, we speak with individuals about building and safeguarding their money.
Wellness and Well-Being
Some people use complementary health approaches in an effort to promote general well-being or wellness, rather than to help manage symptoms of a health problem. For example, 2012 national survey data show that people most often use yoga and dietary supplements for wellness. Wellness has several dimensions, including emotional well-being (coping effectively with life and creating satisfying relationships) and physical well-being (recognizing the need for physical activity, healthy foods, and sleep).
Investment in health is key to boosting wealth
The health and wealth of a nation are fundamentally linked. Healthier populations live longer, more productive lives, leading to greater economic prosperity. A report by the G20 Health and Development Partnership—Healthy Nations, Sustainable Economies—reiterates this now-familiar theme and calls on G20 health and finance ministers to work together, particularly in support of health research and development, to advance health.

Through a series of case studies, the report, released on March 5, showcases examples of the successes that have been achieved by innovative partnerships together with coordinated investment in health research and development.Â
